Living Cost Differential (LCD) Survey Results for the Nunavut region and designation of a new isolated post

The National Joint Council Isolated Posts and Government Housing Committee has recently approved the designation of Kegaska, Quebec as a new isolated posts under the IPGHD. All allowances and benefits for this location will be effective .

In addition, the results of the Statistics Canada survey on the Living Costs Differential (LCD) Indexes for the Nunavut Region conducted in were recently communicated to the National Joint Council Isolated Posts and Government Housing Committee (NJC-IPGHD). A total of twenty-five (25) isolated posts (fourteen (14) posts in the Baffin Region of Nunavut, two (2) posts in the Ungava Bay Region of northern Quebec, eight (8) posts in the Kivillaq Region of Nunavut and one (1) post in the Northern Manitoba) were involved in this review and the results can be summarized as follows:

No change in LCD level - 15 posts

These changes will be effective for the Isolated Post which had a classification increase in the LCD level as per 2.11.2 of the NJC Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive (IPGHD). Please note that for the nine (9) locations which decreased, notification must be provided to employees as the effective date of the changes will be the first day of the fourth calendar month after the month in which written notification was received as per 2.12.4 a) of the NJC-IPGHD. An email message is acceptable to provide such notification. Details regarding the methodology can be found in the "Guide to National Joint Council Rates and Allowances".
