The grievors sought the provision of an allowance for uniforms and shoes within the Protective Clothing policy.
The Administrative Committee considered and agreed with the report of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee in that the grievors had not been treated within the intent of the directive. The Administrative Committee further agreed that the matter to be considered was not one of uniforms but one of protective clothing, that is protective clothing must be provided where there is a hazard of damage or soiling to the employees personal clothing.
The Administrative Committee agreed that as the grievance concerned protective clothing and not uniform clothing the matter of an allowance was not applicable. The
Administrative Committee further agreed that corrective action be taken by the department to bring the treatment of the employees within the intent of the Policy.
