The grievor sought reimbursement for the cost of safety lenses.
The grievor was employed as a welder and provided with goggles to wear over his glasses.
The Administrative Committee noted that the Occupational Safety and Health Committee concluded that in this case there could be an injury to either the grievor or another worker because of the inability to see clearly because of sweating.
The Administrative Committee considered and agreed with the report of the majority of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee in that the Policy was not intended to be interpreted so tightly on the matter of distortion so as to preclude an employee in this situation from being provided with corrective safety lenses.
The grievance was upheld.
