The grievor sought reimbursement of travel expenses incurred in travelling to and from an isolated post to obtain orthodontic treatment for the grievor's daughter.
The grievor's daughter's dentist had recommended that the patient acquire the services of an orthodontist and the orthodontist's conclusion was that the girls dental deformity should be corrected without delay.
The Administrative Committee considered and agreed with the report of the majority of the Isolated Posts Committee in that, the circumstances of the case warranted the payment of transportation expenses, in accordance with Section 20, for the employee's daughter and one parent. It was noted that in some of the claims submitted by the grievor, it was indicated that both parents accompanied their daughter on visits to the dentist. It was further agreed that only the expenses for the daughter and one parent should be paid.
To the extent that the above satisfied the corrective action sought, the grievance was upheld.
