Pay in Lieu

The grievor sought the extension of the surplus period for a period of six months to facilitate the payment of pay in lieu of surplus period.

The grievor was declared surplus and requested pay in lieu of the surplus period. The request was not granted as the department required the performance of the duties until the date of layoff.

The Administrative Committee considered the report of the Work Force Adjustment Committee.

The Administrative Committee agreed that the pay in lieu of surplus period was a matter within the discretion of the employer.

The grievance was denied.
