Background

The employee grieved the former department's refusal to reimburse travel expenses from April 30 to October 31, 2007 during an acting assignment.

It was noted that it was maintained by the grievor to only have become aware of the entitlement to travel expenses in April 2009. As such, the grievor submitted a travel expense claim in April 2009 for travel expenses incurred in 2007. The former department denied the travel expense claim.

Executive Committee Decision

The Executive Committee considered the department and bargaining agent arguments concerning timeliness in this case. The Executive Committee could not reach agreement on the timeliness issue. As such, the Executive Committee reached an impasse on the timeliness issue therefore it agreed that there was no need to debate the merits of the case.
